What is an extension?

anyLogistix Studio

Extensions empower you to customize elements of your supply chain model. This enables the addition of new parameters and statistics, custom animation, and behavior modification and development, all while safely maintaining the full integrity of your model.

By integrating the AnyLogic modeling environment, anyLogistix provides access to a powerful toolset that helps you more easily capture your supply chain, whatever its nature and scale.

What elements you can extend?

1. Supply chain objects: customers, distribution centers, warehouses, factories, suppliers.

ALX Studio allows you to model any element of a supply chain with the level of detail you need. This means you can consider such things as: order-picking algorithms, layouts, the number of forklift trucks, workers, or even the number of gates at your warehouses and distribution centers. You can model manufacturing processes at a factory and take into account conveyors, pipelines, workers, machine-tolls, working schedules, whatever is necessary. Above all, you can understand how the internal processes in your facilities influence operations across the whole supply chain.

2. Supply chain policies: sourcing, inventory, transportation.

In addition to the included policies, ALX Studio supports their creation and customization. Using the embedded AnyLogic software, you can directly model the logic and interaction of all manner of supply chain elements. This allows the capture of any process in your supply chain, including dynamic policies for inventory, sourcing, and transportation. You can also define custom decision-making logic, concerning for example shipment times, the grouping of shipments, and source and route selection.

3. Custom experiments.

Design and execute your own custom experiments. With the ability to write your own optimization algorithms, use external solvers, and run predefined sets of experiments, there are almost unlimited opportunities for supply chain professionals. Using custom experiments, you can, for example, calculate the cost per unit of transportation for a product in different scenarios. Furthermore, ALX makes data management very flexible – you can import data, such as currency rates and ERP, from external sources to keep the model up-to-date, or you can export modeling results for use externally.

4. Custom statistics.

If the statistics you want are not featured on the standard list, you can add them by using the ALX extension mechanism. For instance, you can measure resource utilization rates, including fleet, people, and equipment, even a product’s shelf life can be measured.

ALX Studio provides supply chain professionals with unlimited modeling and analytics opportunities. You can model all the special traits and complex logic of your supply chain, conduct in-depth analysis (including the detailed modeling of facility operations inside four walls), conduct experiments, and inspect every influential parameter in your supply chain with the help of comprehensive statistics.
