Vehicle Types

In the Vehicle Types table you define all types of vehicles that are used to ship products in the supply chain. The default vehicle type is created with infinite capacity for each new scenario.

For each vehicle type, you specify maximum allowed capacity and speed. See example.

Column Description

Name

Name of the vehicle type.

Capacity

The maximum weight, volume or quantity of products that a vehicle of the given type can take.

By default the value is set to 0, which means that the vehicles have infinite capacity.

Capacity Unit

Defines the capacity measurement unit of a vehicle:

The list of available units comprises the units defined in both the Manage units dialog and the Units table.

  • ft3 — cubic feet
  • kg — one kilogram of a product
  • lb — pound
  • m3 — one cubic meter
  • pcs — one product unit

Speed

Speed of the vehicle (in the specified Speed Unit). We assume that all vehicles of the same type always move with the speed defined here.

  • Can be overridden by the Transportation Time parameter
  • For details on providing fixed or stochastic speed values refer to this section.

Speed Unit

Defines the speed measurement unit.

The list of available units comprises the units defined in the Manage units dialog.

Example

If your supply chain uses trucks and cargo aircrafts, you should add the following entries to the Vehicle Types table:
