Path Selection Mode

If there is a number of available Paths a vehicle can take to deliver the products, you can use this table to choose the ideal path (Fastest, Cheapest or the Shortest) for shipping.

By default on adding a path to this table (by specifying the From and To columns), the Selection Mode will be set to First. This mode does not provide any specific path filtering and is used basically to let ALX know that you agree to use any of the previously specified Paths for the current shipping.

Column

Description

From

Defines the starting location point of the path represented by any factory / DC, supplier or group (list of destinations defined by the user).

To

Defines the ending location point of the path represented by any customer, factory / DC or group (list of destinations defined by the user).

Selection Mode

Defines the path selection mode for the defined From and To shipping locations:

  • First - this option is selected by default. Chooses any previously defined path for the current shipping.
  • Fastest - selects the fastest shipping path in terms of time.
Note: If the time is not specified (Transportation time column in the  Paths table), this mode considers the distance to cover (Distance column in the Paths table) divided by the speed of the specified vehicle type. If the distance is not specified, it will be taken from the map (it may be either a straight line or an actual route, depending on the state of the toggle button in the Straight column of the Paths table).
  • Cheapest - selects the cheapest shipping path.
Note: Calculation is done based on the distance to cover (Distance column in the Paths table). If the distance is not specified, it is taken from the map (it may be a straight line or an actual route, depending on the state of the toggle button in the Straight column of the Paths table).
If Fixed delivery cost is selected in the Cost calculation column of the Paths table, this selection mode simply considers the specified cost.
  • Shortest - selects the shortest shipping path.
Note: The distance to cover is taken from the Distance column in the Paths table. If the distance is not specified, it will be taken from the map (it may be either a straight line or an actual route, depending on the state of the toggle button in the Straight column of the Paths table).
