Connections of the GIS map elements

The connections of the supply chain elements are visualized on the GIS map and in the Structure view. These connections depict the sourcing that is defined by a user in the ALX tables.

By default the connections are not depicted, you enable them by clicking the  Show / Hide connections button in the GIS map filter options.

The available connection is the connection that is properly defined in the basic ALX tables: Paths and Sourcing. That's it.

The defined connections may not be shown on the GIS map for the following reasons:

  1. Data in ALX tables is either incorrect or affects connection visibility
  2. GIS map filters are enabled
  3. One of the connected objects is outside of the visible GIS map area
Let us take a closer look at each point.

Data in ALX tables is either incorrect or affects connection visibility

By default all the records of the Paths and Sourcing tables consider all objects and all possible connections  between them, which eliminates the possibility of data inconsistency.

The possible issues may refer to:

GIS map filters enabled

The GIS map filter allows you to choose the objects to depict on the GIS map. The rest of the objects will not be visible on the GIS map. The connection between the two objects will be shown if at least one of them remains visible (selected in the filter parameters).

The possible issues may refer to:

One of the connected objects is outside of the visible GIS map area

If all policies are properly set and GIS map filters are disabled, make sure that both connected objects are located in the visible area. If you pan the map and one of the connected objects moves outside of the visible area, the connection will be hidden.
