Export the Modified Extension

In the previous phase we created the factory extension and modified it by adding the quality check and the overhaul processes to its flowchart. In this phase we will export the extension and run the scenario to see how the changes affect the supply chain.

Let us export the extension to anyLogistix folder.

Export the extension

  1. Navigate to the projects view by clicking Projects.

  2. Double click the Export to ALX item in the extension tree to open the Export ALX Extension dialog box. By default the path to the ALX extensions folder is specified in the Extension file name field. Leave the default path, unless you want to save this extension to some other folder.

  3. Click Finish. You will see a message in the ALX interface informing you that the extension was successfully added.

  4. Click OK to close the notification.

ALX allows you to instantly use the imported extension. It is already available for all scenarios of this project, but we need to clearly specify where to use it. Let us create a copy of the currently open scenario and set it to use the NewFactory extension.

Create a copy of the scenario

  1. Right-click the Headphones Supply Chain scenario to open the context menu.

  2. Select Create Copy as SIM to create a scenario copy of SIM type.
The Copy of Headphones Supply Chain scenario will be created, and you will be instantly taken to it.

We may now define the new extension for this scenario.

Define the new extension
  1. Navigate to the DCs and Factories table in the list of tables below the projects tree

  2. Double-click the Type cell of the Headphones Factory record and select NewFactory from the drop-down list.

That's it. We may run the experiment and compare results

Run the experiment and compare results
  1. Click the Simulation experiment item in the Experiments section.

  2. Click  Run in virtual time mode without animation to run the experiment at max speed without displaying the GIS map
  3. Click the Stop toolbar button to stop the experiment. A dialog box will pop up asking if you would like to save the results. Click Yes.
  4. Examine the gathered statistics. By default the Service Level tab is open.
As you can see, the service level differs from the original result. It now constitutes 97% as compared to the initial 100%

  5. Now check the P&L tab for details on the expenses within the supply chain and the received profit.
We can see that the received profit is less this time. It constitutes $258,234,836.51 as compared to the original $264,184,763.11.

As you can see, maintaining high quality of the offered product decreases the profit and the service level.

That's it. We have completed the third phase of this tutorial. We have exported the modified extension and compared the results.
